Evergreen Players A Favorite At State Festival
Jun 19, 2005
The Evergreen Players' production of Down the Road, the intense drama of a serial killer and the married couple who agree to write his biography, was awarded the People's Choice Award at the 2005 Colorado Community Theatre Coalition competition this year in Fort Morgan. Down the Road, which took second place overall, also received four All-State Awards: Scott Ogle for Best Director, Bruce and Gail Montgomery for Best Acting, and Peggy Stenmark for Best Set Design.
Making their eighth trip to the annual festival, the Players competed against theaters from across the state, including Aspen, Ft. Collins, Littleton, Longmont, Salida, Sterling and Wray.
"We're thrilled by the reception we received with Down the Road," says director Scott Ogle. "It's an edgy, challenging piece that pushes the envelope. It makes an audience think, it makes an audience talk. We're happy the audience felt the emotion and responded to it."
